What you need to know about SIRA Certification for CCTV Systems

What is SIRA and SIRA certification?

The Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) is a regulatory authority in Dubai, UAE, established in 2016 by a decree from HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.

SIRA ensures highest levels of safety and security by laying guidelines on implementation of best practices in security systems, services, and personnel.

There are only about 400 companies SIRA certified for CCTV certification, and less than 2000 SIRA certified providers for all security related activities in Dubai, UAE.

SIRA has laid down specific guidelines on CCTV installation at various types of building in Dubai. All institutions are required to abide by these guidelines through yearly audits, maintenance, certifications, and upgrades if required.

Why do you need CCTV Installation Certification!

SIRA certification ensures that the CCTV installation in your building or facility is in good condition, as per guidelines, and up-to-date with the latest technologies specified by SIRA.

It is now mandatory for the proper installation of security surveillance system at the building facilities. Fines are imposed for non-compliance and improper CCTV installation. Various types of buildings and institutions have different type of guidelines for CCTV installation specified by SIRA.

SIRA certification is essential to facilitate other licensing formalities as well. Dubai municipal authority also requires SIRA NOC for issuing a building completion certificate.

How SIRA certification for CCTV installation is carried out?

CCTV certification by SIRA is carried out through its portal where submission of various documents is required. This includes, CCTV Site inspection report, AMC, quotations from vendors, and much more.

Submissions and changes need to be carried out within the approved timeline of 1 month, failing which resubmission charges are applicable. To avoid such reapplications, it is advisable to consult a CCTV installation SIRA certified installer who can guide you to ensure minimum variations, and avoid fines or application.

Changes, if any, suggested during the inspection like changing the CCTV from Analog to IP is required to be carried out within the timelines through SIRA approved CCTV installers like Regal Technologies.
